Patriots receiver Kendrick Bourne had the perfect message for QB Mac Jones after trade to Jacksonville Jaguars
Bob DeChiara-USA TODAY Sports

Mac Jones' time with the New England Patriots was very tumultuous.

And it all came to an end at the beginning of March when Jones was officially traded to the Jacksonville Jaguars. So with Bourne being a veteran presence in the locker room, he took a moment to speak with Jones after the trade was official.

“I’ve chopped it up with him. I told him that he’s going to be alright and everything happens for a reason," Bourne told Boston.com's Khari Thompson. "He hit me up when I re-signed and congratulated me. So, we keep in contact here and there and he feels good being home.

"That was dope by the Patriots, sending him somewhere that he wants to be and is comfortable. Respect to them for doing that.”

Jones had a promising rookie season, but took a serious decline his second and third year. And because of that, many believe that his time in New England had come to an end when former head coach Bill Belichick decided to officially bench the quarterback in favor of Bailey Zappe.

Clearly things were not going well and it made sense for both sides to get a clean start.

While four teams were in the mix for Jones, he landed with the Jaguars and many believed it was the best place from him, considering it's were he grew up.

And even Jones admitted that this trade was a good decision.

""Like I said, I have all the respect in the world for those guys up there. They're my first team. Drafted me in the first round. Can't thank them enough. And obviously we kind of just decided the mutual parting of ways was the best decision for both of us," Jones said during his introductory press conference with the Jaguars. "For me it was just about moving on and getting back home, and I couldn't be more excited. And for them, it's about moving forward and turning the page. So really, that's what we decided, and I think it's a great decision."
