Eagles rookie Nolan Smith told to “take advantage of this opportunity”
Trevor Ruszkowski-USA TODAY Sports

The excitement that’s been buzzing around the Novacare complex this offseason has been second to none. This buzz grew tenfold once the Eagles made their big splashes in the first round of the draft. Of those picks was Nolan Smith. A Georgia product that has the potential to be the cream of the crop in this year’s class.

His ability to get after the quarterback has reminded many Eagles fans of the team’s current pass rusher, Haason Reddick. Reddick had a monster season and he played in a hybrid role but has been listed as a linebacker. Smith is quietly following those same steps as the team has him listed in the same position but his potential is much more than your regular linebacker.

Nolan Smith giving it all for the Eagles

Nolan Smith has been fired up since getting drafted by the Eagles. His motor has been running with no chance of it ever stopping. Last weekend he joined Von Miller at the 7th annual Von Miller Summit in Las Vegas.

Much like Tight End University and Lane Johnson’s OL Masterminds Summit, the event is to help the young and veteran pass rushers of the game to master their crafts. With Nolan Smith being drafted by last year’s NFC Champions, the pressure seems to be exciting the rookie enough to put an unlimited amount of work in on getting better.

Von Miller also had some very special advice for Nolan Smith as seen in the clip below. Miller emphasized that it’s great to pray for the opportunity and to want it but told Nolan Smith that he needs to take advantage of it.

Von Miller is a future Hall of Famer who has been through quite the amount of ups and downs in his career but has always found a way to succeed. Even at the age of 34 years old, Miller is still one of the most feared pass rushers in the league. If his style and technique can rub off on Nolan Smith then the Eagles may have a diamond in the rough playing for them.
