Cleveland Browns Head Coach Said He Could’ve Won The Super Bowl With Baker Mayfield
Nathan Ray Seebeck-USA TODAY Sports

It was an excellent day for former Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield on Sunday when he cashed in on a three-year deal worth 100 million dollars with the Tampa Buccaneers, and one of his former head coaches had a lot to say about the six-year veteran.

Cleveland Browns Former Coach Said He Could’ve Won It All With Mayfield

Former Browns defensive coordinator and interim head coach Gregg Williams was on his BIG Play Come Get Some Show and talked about how much he loved Baker and how he is one of his all-time favorites. He said with all my heart we could’ve won a championship with him if I had stayed at Cleveland and been the head coach.

Williams was Mayfield’s interim head coach in his rookie season after head coach Hue Jackson was let go in the middle of the season. Williams went 5-3 in the last eight games in 2018, and many thought he would get the head coaching job; they ended up giving it to the offensive coordinator, Freddie Kitchens

The Kitchens era in Cleveland could have been better, but it only lasted one season. In 2019, Mayfield had the worst season of his career under him.

Mayfield Left Cleveland In 2022

Just like Williams, Mayfield also saw himself getting up and leaving Cleveland in 2022 after the Browns went out and traded for Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson.

The move to trade for Watson has backfired in the eyes of the Cleveland Browns, with Watson only playing in 12 games through two seasons with the team.

Mayfield is having a great time down in Tampa. He saw one of the best seasons he ever had as a pro last season and cashed in on a giant payday.

It’s too bad we never got to see Williams and Mayfield in Cleveland more than just those eight games, but it always makes you wonder how far they could’ve gone together.
