 Bolts' Khalil Mack Makes Decision on Retirement

With the fates of their head coach and general manager very much up in the air, your Los Angeles Chargers may look very different next season.

That could even extend to team's best defensive player, eight-time Pro Bowl linebacker Khalil Mack. The 32-year-old appeared to revealed during the Bolts' ill-fated 5-12 2023 regular season that he had considered retirement prior to this year, before his wife Brianna Perry essentially talked him down. Now, it appears he has no plans of hanging up his cleats before his current salary runs out.

Per Kris Rhim of ESPN, the 6'3", 239-pound future Hall of Famer conceded that, given that he's under team control this offseason, he doesn't have much say in where he winds up to start the 2024 NFL season.

"I know what I bring to the game, understanding that I want to be a team guy. Whatever team, I'm not in control of that right now," Mack acknowledged.

Mack inked a six-year, $141 million contract while with the Chicago Bears ($60 million of which was guaranteed at the time of the signing). He'll be in the final season of that agreement next year.

A three-time All-Pro and the 2016 Defensive Player of the Year, Mack is still as lethal as ever. He secured a personal-best 17 sacks this season, with his 17th arriving against Kansas City Chiefs backup quarterback Blaine Gabbert Sunday:
